Welcome aboard "Irish Mist", our classic Kettenburg 50-foot sailboat. "Irish Mist" was built in San Diego by Kettenburg Marine in 1962. In her youth she was raced many times to Hawaii, one time being skippered by the late Peggy Slater and her all girl crew. She was a real workhorse in many local and Mexican races, and took her fair share of first place finishes. Only twenty-five K50's were built, and "Irish Mist" (hull #8) is one of the only three versions built with a spade rudder.      She is a lovingly maintained sailing vessel. The aft deck and large cockpit are the perfect places for watching our spectacular sunsets. The forward deck is perfect for stargazing in the evenings. You will have a spectacular view of the Milky Way, and many evenings you will be treated to all of those shooting stars. The fantastic meals are tailored to your tastes and preferences. Connie will skillfully craft your meals with a combination of stateside favorites and delicious local cuisine, and can cater to any dietary restrictions and any special requests with ease. Depending on your wishes, you can sail "Irish Mist" to your heart's content or just kick back and relax. There is nothing more exciting than a 50 foot sailboat driving to weather in a fresh breeze. There is nothing more relaxing than drifting along with no sounds other than the water lapping against the hull and your favorite music playing softly in the background. No sailing or boating experience is necessary for you to enjoy the adventure of a lifetime aboard the "Irish Mist".          "Irish Mist" is equipped with two double person sit-on-top kayaks, snorkeling gear and light fishing tackle. Our 13 ft launch is perfect for zipping around the anchorage to explore the next cove or track down the catch of the day. Swimming in the warm crystal waters and beachcombing is a great way to relax and spend a lazy afternoon. Colorful schools of small fish dart in and around the reefs. Manta rays fly out of the water, dancing in a halo of sparkling droplets. A trip to Los Islotes is one of the highlights of your adventure. Los Islotes is a sealion colony and bird estuary where you can snorkel, kayak and swim with the sea lions. The young ones love visitors and will come up and sometimes touch your mask! The adults cavort and play while the bulls hold court on the shore, posing and preening. Los Islotes is a protected area and endangered bird species such as the Blue-footed booby have the opportunity to replenish their number. This is truly an amazing excursion!      If you want a personalized boating expedition with a combination of adventures, you have come to the right place! We know the best snorkeling spots, kayaking areas, and all those secluded coves and deserted beaches. Your crew will always do everything possible to insure that your trip will be your vacation of a lifetime! Our trips include experiencing the abundant wildlife (including whale watching), snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, island exploring, fishing, knee boarding, or just relaxing and enjoying the view.      "Irish Mist" can sleep four guests (two adults and 2 children 6-13) in two private staterooms. The forward stateroom has a very large double berth, the side stateroom has upper and lower singles. In the main cabin are the galley, dinette (this is where the crew sleeps) and the settee. There is also a large head with a sink and a separate shower room with its own sink. The extra-large cockpit is great for socializing and dining. There's plenty of deck space for lounging and working on your tan. For the summer months we have a full boat awning which provides plenty of shade. The cockpit has a hard cover with side curtains for shade.      For communications we have a cellular phone and VHF radio. "Irish Mist" is a U.S.documented vessel, is fully insured and inspected for carrying passengers in Mexico, and carries all the necessary safety equipment. "Irish Mist" also has a 6kw generator and a central air-conditioning system. During the warmer months you'll always be able to sleep in complete comfort. "Irish Mist" has state-of-the-art radar, a GPS system, and furling gear for the head sails.
