ALL THE FUN STUFF
Once aboard "Tesoro Del Mar" prepare yourself for a lot of relaxation and fun. "Tesero del Mar" has a knee board and the Baja Death Tube for the kids. Kids love to be towed behind our launches on these very exciting water toys. You can spend the day kayaking, swimming, tubing, knee boarding, snorkeling, light fishing, beachcombing and exploring the anchorage, or just kick back and read that book you never seem to have time for. We will also be searching for wildlife, such as whales, dolphin, giant manta rays, whale sharks and the many species of birds that make the sea and the islands their home. A visit to Los Islotes to swim and snorkel with the sea lions is an adventure in itself. Los Islotes is a colony to a large variety of birds including the illusive Blue-footed Booby and Red-footed Booby. During the whale watching season (Feb-April), we spot many different species of whales. The spacious foredeck, and the higher cockpit of "Tesoro Del Mar" are perfect for watching a mammoth Blue Whale spouting, fluking and sounding when in our area.
Out at the islands the azure water is warm and clear. The kayaking and snorkeling are in remote, but protected, areas. We REALLY have secluded beaches and bays not seen by many visitors, where you will see many unique species of birds, plants, tropical fish, and sea life. The Sea of Cortez is truly one of the last frontiers left in the world.
The snorkeling is, in one word, fantastic. The water is crystal clear, and each cove offers its own unique ecological environment. Small islands, reefs, and wrecks are yours to experience. There are many varieties of tropical fish, which dart in and out of their safe havens around the various reefs. One of the highlights of our trips is snorkeling/swimming or kayaking with the sea lions at Los Islotes. We anchor in the lee of this small island, which is home to one of the largest sea lion colonies in Mexico. Here the baby sea lions will swim right up to your mask, as the adults bark and play and the bulls pose and strut on the shore. Los Islotes is also home to a variety of birds, including pelicans, seagulls, frigates, three species of booby birds, herons, grebes and many more.
In the kayaks you will really get close to nature. You can enter areas with just inches of water, where the birds and sea life are more approachable. Our boats carry double person kayaks. The sit-on-top kayaks are very stable, easy to handle, and each anchorage is an experience waiting to be explored. The abundance of life in this region is noticeable right away. You'll see birds such as pelicans, frigates, gulls, boobies & ospreys soaring in the skies overhead. Near the offshore islands you can observe sea lions, manta rays, dolphin & whales.
The pristine "Tesero del Mar" is a very comfortable and easy boat to sail. She is a beautiful design with an easy motion, very stable and heels over very little when under sail. "Tesoro Del Mar" is the only Beneteau 50 available for private charter in our area. She is a fast, stable, seaworthy yacht and has a cruising speed in flat water of 7-8 kts for getting to the action and uninhabited islands quickly. When the wind is blowing her sails can capture enough wind to sail at over 10 knots, leaving other sailors in her wake. Our fellow cruisers in the Sea of Cortez envy the speed advantage, along with all of that room below. We also offer various learn-to-sail programs for both boats, along with our multi-day cruising adventures.
The Sea of Cortez has been called the world's largest fish trap, and not much has changed since John Steinbeck wrote his famous, "The Log Of the Sea of Cortez". The abundance of sea life in this region is noticeable as soon as you board the boat. During the late spring and summer many species of large fish move into the warmer waters of the Sea of Cortez chasing schools of bait fish and smaller fish.
Excellent fishing is found with species ranging from Dorado, Yellowtail, and Tuna. Many other types of fish are also found in these bountiful waters. The fishing is best during the summer/fall months when the water is warm and clear.
